William Babell (c1690-1723) acquired an international reputation as a harpsichordist largely through his virtuoso arrangements of fashionable operatic arias and overtures, especially those of Handel. His keyboard style was undoubtedly influenced by his close acquaintance with Handel’s playing.

Elles furent publiées en France, aux Pays-Bas, en Allemagne comme en Angleterre et furent à la base de sa réputation. Son style fut très fortement influencé par Haendel.
